The highest point on the earth is Mt. Chimborazo in Ecuador in the Andes mountain chain.
While Chimborazo is not the tallest mountain by height above sea level, With an elevation of 6268 m, Chimborazo is the highest mountain in Ecuador.
Chimborazo is a stratovolcano located in the Andes mountain range of central Ecuador, South America. It is the highest mountain in Ecuador, reaching an elevation of 6,268 meters (20,564 feet) above sea level.
The summit of Mount Chimborazo, Ecuador's highest mountain, is the point on Earth closest to the sun. Due to the mountain's location along the equatorial bulge, its summit is the farthest point from the Earth's core. This also means that Ecuador is the closest country to space.
Chimborazo is located in the Andes. (In South America) It is a Volcano
The andes are a major mountain range that runs through cental ecuador.
I think Chimborazo, at 6,268 meters, is the highest mountain in Ecuador, unless there is one that drops into the ocean, and measured from its ocean floor base is technically 'taller'. Chimborazo is also the point furthest from the center of the Earth (since the Earth is wider at the equator). So by that measure, the peak of Chimborazo is the 'highest' point on the planet. Mt Everest is the highest above sea level, Mauna Lea is the 'tallest' (from base in the ocean floor).
Mt. Pichincha is a mountain around Quito
The Andes!
[1] Chimborazo is one of the mountain peaks in the Andes. Its name comes from the Quechua Chimburasu, because it's always snow-capped. At 20,702 feet/6,310 meters, it's the highest mountain in Ecuador. [2] But it's not the highest mountain in South America. That title goes to Aconcagua, at 22,834 feet/6,960 meters, in Argentina.
