Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the highest mountain in the whole of Africa (not only in Sub-Saharan Africa). Its peak is about 5900 metres, or nearly six kilometres, above sea level. It is so high that it has a snow cover although it is situated in the tropics. Nevertheless the world's highest mountain, Mount Everest in the Himalayas, is about about three kilometres higher that Mount Kilimanjaro.
