The mpg for a commercial truck does not exceed 14mpg whereas a commercial truck with a heavy load can manage 9-11mpg.

The Toyota Hilux became the Toyota Tacoma. This is a smaller pick up. The Chevy Colorado with an inline 5 cylinder gets very good gas mileage. Yahoo Autos, under New cars to the Car finder (Beta), select pick up truck and sort by mpg for other ideas.

The highest mpg on a car is believed to be a concept Porsche. It gets about 132mpg! The production car with the highest advertised official mpg is the SMART Fortwo coupe with 86mpg (imperial) on combined cycle. There are a number of concept cars with higher mpg such as the VW 1L with 282mpg(imperial).
The Ford F-150 is consistently the highest rated truck with respect to fuel mileage, obtaining nearly 25 mpg on the highway when it is not carrying heavy loads.
