Women serve a lot in a mosque. They do many "dars" or lessons where she teaches others about religion they are role models for other girls they do everything to make the mosque look nice and stand out. I don't mean cleaning but their actions make the mosque fantastic. Women, however, cannot be Imams or lead a service that has men in it.
The Masjid or Mosque is run by the local Muslim community usually by contributions from the local Muslims. The prayer is lead by the Imams by rotation and some of the other services are run by volunteers like, lectures, Arabic classes, meetings and other social functions.
A Jamia Mosque is very importan place in Islam. The Muslims hold great gatherings in these mosques to offer Juma Prayer and listen to the sermons delivered by the Imams.
