Homicide detectives are sworn law enforcement officers and are paid the same civil service salary as all other officers in the same agency with similar time of employment, seniority, and pay grade. They are oftentimes paid an extra stipend for their particular skill, and (bedcause of the tremendous overtime workload) make somewhat more per year than, say, a comparable officer in uniformed patrol.
