When you are parachuting what force causes you to slow down?

The opening of the parachute causes you to slow down from a terminal velocity speed of around 120mph to that of approximately 10mph. This takes around 3 to 4 seconds to open during which time the sequence of opening is:Pilot chute thrown into freefall.Pilot chute reaches line tension and pulls the main pin.The main bag is pulled out of the container and then allows the line to pay out.Line tension is reached and the job of the pilot chute is finished.The main job of slowing the parachutist is now achieved. The parachutist is pulled into an upright position.Once the airpeed has slowed down sufficiently, the slider travels down the lines towards the parachutist.The outer cells of the parachute wing should now pressurise and deployment has been completed.
