hello
Well in the story of Demeter and Persephone Persephone has to stay in the underworld for 6 months so when Persephone is on earth it is warm and things grow and harvest but when Persephone is in the underworld nothing grows and it is cold
To take Persephone, daughter of Demeter and Zeus, to the Underworld as wife.
It is the event that sets in motion the central conflict of the story.
I think the inciting incident would be when Jonas becomes the Reciever because that is where the story leads up to when he find out about "release" and runs away. -RS
You need the inciting incident early in the story, so usually in the exposition or rising action.
In Greek mythology, Demeter is the goddess of harvest. Her daughter is Persephone. Hades is the god of the underworld and he kidnapped Persephone. To make a long story short, there was an agreement made between Hades and Demeter to share Persephone. When Persephone is with Hades, Demeter is so sad that nothing will grow and that is why winter happens.
Inciting incident
to introduce the central conflict early in the story
Demeter: to explain the growth of life on Earth. Persephone: to explain the changing seasons every year in Persephone being Queen of the Underworld while the plants die, and goddess of Spring on Earth during her ascension.
