The inner part of the bone is called bone marrow. In fact, new blood is produced in bone marrow, not the blood vessels.
Red blood cells are created in the epiphysis. The epiphysis is at the ends of a typical long bone and contains red marrow, the site of blood cell production.
The blood cells are usually manufactured in the bone marrow.
Osteonic canals contain blood vessels that connect to the long axis of the bone. The blood vessels that are connected perforate the canals of the bone and provide vessels to the surface of the bone which makes the bone hard.
In the blood
This bone was located near the brain. This bone had nerves running through it.
compact bone
Canals in the bone in which blood vessels pass. Blood vessels from outside the bone penetrate the compact bone to the spongy bone through the PERFORATING CANALS.
the spongy bone
The Haversian canals carry blood vessels and nerves to and from the bone.
Bone is built around the blood vessels that supply it ... and if the blood supply changes then the bone structure is modified to fit. Bone is NOT static, unliving stuff, it's a part of the system that makes up you.
All bones have foramen in them. These are canals or openings through which nerves and blood vessels go.
