What is the jardin principal in San Miguel de allende?

It is the main garden in the center of town. Every night, the local young people come to the Jardin Principal (the local name for the zocalo) to meet one another. The scene was very well organized, with the guys walking counterclockwise around the outside of the zocalo, while girls walked clockwise around the inside, flirting and chatting as they passed. If a couple hit it off, they would go sit on a bench and get to know one another. There are also wandering mariachi bands, groups of ninos playing marbles, tourists, locals taking in the clear mountain air, pushcarts selling authentic tacos and other finger food, magicians, solitary guitar players, and the hippies who began flocking to San Miguel in the 1960s.
