To minimize any active window - including the Microsoft Word window - use the keybaord shortcut: Alt + spacebar + N Press and hold these three keys and the window will minimize. Do not press the + key ... it just means "and" in the keyboard shortcut description. Yes its true but i really really need 2 know what is the short cut key for select all . Well, that's a different question. And typically the shortcut in most programs is Ctrl + A

Use the combination Alt+Space+N. Technically, this opens the application's shortcut menu and then selects the minimize option, but it works so fast you won't notice.
