The labor costs vary by region. In the western US the LABOR PRICES are very low. I would go back to school and get an engineering degree if you want to afford to eat.

I just put a bid in for the Framing/Siding/Decking/Roofing... a 4000 sq ft 2 story with 800 sq ft of deck area (framing, decking, railing and stairs), 3500 sq ft of roof area 4 pitch rood ALL HIP (30 year shingle), 3200 sq ft siding area Hardy plank, including 30 windows, 8 doors and all exterior trim installation).

To frame, Deck, Side, and Roof my bid was 42,000 for just labor. In response to my bid the owner told me they had another bid at 25,000. I cannot compete in this market if I want to eat you have to work for cash and hope none of your workers get hurt.

If you factor in the taxes, workman's comp, insurance, tools, fuel, etc. these folks going with a low-balling, non insured, non licensed person will have allot of problems with their house from start to finish I assure you. I AM MAD AND IM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!
