Astronomers have a hard enough time coming up with a definition of 'planet', let alone minor planet. But there have been several very small bodies (roughly Pluto-sized) found in the part of the solar system between Mars and Jupiter. It was clear that they didn't have the status of planet, based on their dissimilarity to their neighbors. An object orbiting the sun that is either not round or close to round or is the smaller planet of two that cross each others orbit.

∙ 11y agoPluto, recently demoted from major Planet status, is now a "Dwarf Planet".
However it's not even the biggest dwarf planet. "Eris" is at present the biggest
of the dwarf planets that are known.
"minor planets" used to mean asteroids only, but the term now includes the dwarf planets.
