There is a federal that prohibits any shotgun or rifle with a barrel length shorter than, I believe, 16". The state of Louisiana COULD inact a law that is stricter.
A shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches is regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934. It's not legal anywhere.
