The least expensive brands for HD televisions are the 'off brands', such as Akai. While these brands work perfectly well, they often do not have all the feature of mainstream brands.
Currently major tv brands are no longer making non HD TVs for the purpose of trying to get consumers to purchase more expensive products. You may find small brand non HD televisions being made in less populated communities.
Samsung HP-R5072 50-In. HD Plasma TV is HD.
You can use sites like PriceGrabber if you are looking for a particular brand. LED is the most expensive type of TV, so finding a really cheap set could prove to be difficult.
Nyko HD-Link is a good brand.
I have a 47" Samsung LCD TV. It is great! Great picture, sound, and features. Crystal clear picture in HD. Highly recommended.
FPR is LG's way of taking an HD television and modifying it so that 3D is displayed at half of the full HD resolution. It's brand new and something that other manufacturers haven't done yet. They are all sticking to full HD resolution for their 3D.
There are too many 3D HD televisions to list by brand. Just rest assured that the stores selling electronics will carry these also and should have a very well rounded knowledge of each that you are interested in.
I found a site that has the information for the top brand on it. The site seems a reliable source, and I hope you agree. http://www.squidoo.com/LCD-televisions
HD televisions do cost more than regular, older TVs, but their price has gone down a lot since their initial release and with the introduction of 3D TVs. You can get some good deals on HD TVs at Best Buy during July 4 sale.
Yes you get over 600 channels but you have to pay for it. You can get Sky, Sky + and Sky + HD. In the adverts in Avatar Sky said they are making Sky + HD 3D. Which will be good! But you have to pay for them all. I think Sky + HD is rubbish because its expensive and you have only got a couple of the channels that are HD!
It may be a HD TV with Standard Freeview built in. Standard Freeview does not automatically contain any of the HD channels as it is not a HD service. However, you would get HD channels such as BBC HD and ITV HD if your TV had Freeview HD built in. So, my recommendation would be to buy a Freeview HD box. Remember to check on the Freeview HD website to find out when the service is rolling out in your area, as the service is actually brand new. My postcode doesn't receive this signal until June 2011, so be careful. The service at the moment is very limited.
A cheap 36 inch HD TV is manufactured by WestingHouse and costs approximately $200. Other 36 inch HD TV's in all price ranges are available from Walmart, Kmart, Target, Best Buy and Sears.
