mating, nesting, hatchlings, the lost years, eating habits, and maturity
Mating begins shortly after the turtles have emerged from hibernation when the water temperature is still low. Mating may also occur in the fall. The breeding season lasts from late spring to early summer. Males begin to breed when they reach maturity, usually when they are three to five years old. Females take longer to mature (6-10 years) and are larger at maturity. Painted turtles are amniotes which requires females to nest on land. Females prefer soft, sandy soil with good exposure to the sun for their nest site. Nests are dug with the turtle's hind feet, usually within 200 meters of water. The nest is no deeper than 10 to 12 centimeters. The females will lay 4 to 15 oval, soft shelled eggs, in a flask-shaped hole. The eggs are elliptical, white to off-white and are mostly smooth with slight pits. Female turtles may lay up to five clutches of eggs per season although typically, they will lay only one or two clutches. Once the eggs are laid the mother will cover the hole with dirt or sand and leave the nest unattended. Painted turtle eggs hatch 72 to 80 days after they are laid. Once the young hatch and dig out of the nest, they are immediately independent.
The green turtle has a very long life. It starts out by being hatch from an egg. the egg is buried underneith a foot of sand at a beach. It starts crawling out of the sand and in about a week it gets onto the surface. then it crawls to the body of water in which it was nearest to. While it is in the sea it lives out it's life however it wants to. Then it mates and goes back to the land it was hatched and lays the eggs. Then it goes back out to sea to continue living it's life. So unlike us humans they don't have a mom to love them.
the moms lay the eggs, the eggs hactch, and then turn into adults. Then the mom dies!
A turtle lives 150-200 years
There isn't much of a life cycle of any kind of turtle. A turtles life cycle is nothing like that of a butterfly, meaning that there are not very many stages in life. A turtles lifestyle would basically be Egg, then turtle, then death.
Many animals will migrate for life cycle reasons such as the sea turtle. The sea turtle will migrate onto beaches or land to lay their eggs. Many animals will migrate in order to find food or to help keep their young safe from predators.

The average life span of a green sea turtle is 80 years.
The life cycle of a sea turtle goes like this. It starts with the mother sea turtle coming to the beach and laying her eggs. Next she covers them in sand and then she crawls back to the ocean.Once the babies hatch they crawl to the ocean, but many do not survive. Some get eaten by birds. The ones that do survive, will grow into young sea turtles. They eat things found in the seaweed. Then they swim back to the shore where they will mate. Once they mate the life cycle starts all over again.
