Generally players start playing when they are 7 or 8 and can continue into their 30's if other commitments such as work and families dont get in the way.

The player needs to be very careful when assessing his playing life.

I started playing at 6yrs and was 37 yrs young when I played my last game.

subsequent spinal surgery in my late 40's indicates quite clearly I should have started later, finished earlier and taken longer to heal between injuries.
