There's the nucleus in the middle, and then an electron cloud surrounding it. there are different levels to the cloud. 2 electrons can fit in the first level, 8 in the second, and there's more in the link below. Electrons are negatively charged. In the nucleus, there are protons and neutrons. Neutrons are neutral, and protons are positively charged. There are the same amount of protons as electrons.
