Commandments one through four (of the 10 commandments - Exodus 20:3-11) are about how we are to act toward God. And the remaining six deal with how act toward each other (Exodus 20:12-17).

So the first great commandment: "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind" (MT 22:37), covers the first four.

And the second great commandment: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (MT 22:39), covers the last six. It's all about showing love.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE for all things (God , man, nature, animals and everything that exist on mother earth and the universe). For we are all connected to the Great Source, we carry His DNA, we are the spark of His DIVINE energy. We are one in Him.

Since, God's love is all incumbent. He's first agenda was to show His "Grace", which He did many times pier to any written laws; but the people couldn't listen nor follow without Moses or written words; basically without visual aids. This was because of their disconnect from the leaning path they were on three hundred years before slavery. In Egypt (where Moses resuced them from) the custom was to worship visible images of their gods.

The Old Testament or covenant (promise) speaks about the coming of God to earth in flesh (visually); to reveal the original agenda. He for filled this promise in the New Testament; meeting all the requirements of the Old. To be the final sacrifice and save His people: as the person "Jesus".

Jesus spoke of going back to glory but leaving God with the people in an unseen form. It was to aid the believers journey. If we believe in God at all, it is due to God making himself known to us thru the part that is here with us now; the Holy Spirit or also known as the Holy Ghost.

This takes us back to the original path of believing, seeing and leaning and communicating with God Almighty; creator of all; without a visual form. Using our faith not our sense's. For God is a Spirit and we must worship Him in spirit to get to know Him and count on Him and not ourselves.

What Christian teachings explain why Christians should help people?

It is primarily found in the two great commandments given to us by Jesus. The first is to love God above all else. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself. The two great commandments are, essentially, a summation of the 10 commandments. The first 3 commandments correspond to the first great commandment and the last 7 commandments correspond to the 2nd great commandment. Please see the following biblical passages for the scriptural evidence of the 2 great commandments: Matthew 22:34-40 Luke 10:25-28 Mark 12:28-34

What is the connection of two great commandments and the ten commandments?

Jesus didn't give the commandments to his disciples. God gave the commandments to Moses this is recorded in the Old Testament. Jesus did tell his disciples that basically there are only two commandments: 1. Love the LORD your God. 2. Love your neighbour as yourself.

Did Mother Teresa fulfill the two great commandments of Jesus?

The Two Great Commandments are to love the Lord and to love thy Neighbor. For Mother Teresa to have helped all of those in the slums of Calcutta she would have had to love each and every one of them in their own way. As far as loving the Lord. That is only something Mother Teresa and God can answer.

Matthew 22:35-40 - Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' Why are christians so selective about commandments?

Are they? Jesus said that there are basically two commandments: Love the LORD your God. Love your neighbour as yourself. If people are selective about these then prbably they are not Christians.
