The Regional (or Multi-regional) Continuity Hypothesis is mostly based on the argument that the human race developed like all other living things according to the laws of evolution developing according to the demands of various environments and that modern man was the 'logical' outcome of the survival of the best-adapted.

The biggest problem of this theory used to be its lack of fossil proof. Today the alternative "Out of Africa" theory - stating that at a much later stage, people migrating from Africa simply supplanted the various early human species - seems to have the best papers, supported as it is by the outcome of DNA research.
