Purpose of Daylight Saving TimeThe main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called "Summer Time" in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.

Other thoughts:

Supposedly this is what "the farmers" wanted. However farmers are more into sun time than clock time. Putting sun up an hour later, makes getting to market on time harder.

Then again Ben Franklin thought you'd save candles by not having to light them so early in the night, but he never accounted for having to use them in the morning when its stilll dark

Electrical power generators follow Franklins logic but can show no change in daily power consumption.

School kids may get home in the light towards the end of daylight savings time each year but they are leaving for school in the dark.

The best description of summer hours is that it is like making your blanket longer by cutting a foot off the bottom end and sewing on the top!

It does not change the actual hours of daylight. It just means that everyone gets up and does everything an hour earlier as not to waste so much of that extra morning daylight, but we still pretend that we get up and do everything else at the same time by setting our clocks an hour fast so that most people don't notice.

What is the purpose of the winter and summer time changes?

The main purpose of Daylight Savings time is to have more daylight in the evening. An hour of daylight is moved from morning to evening. Also, Daylight Savings time can save on energy. The U.S. Department of Transportation in 1975 showed that 1% of electricity was saved each day.

Why do you need it daylight savings in new york?

For future reference, remember that it is officially called Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight SavingS Time. The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time is to make better use of daylight during the summer. According to surveys conducted by the U.S. Department of Transportation, many voters reported that they enjoy DST because it provides safer roads and more time to do things in the evening because there is more light. In addition, the U.S. Department of Transportation and other sources report that DST decreases the country's use of energy by a small but significant percentage.Daylight Saving Time was originally considered by Benjamin Franklin but did not go into effect in laws until a builder William Willett lobbied the idea in British Government. The bill was drafted in 1909, but was not accepted by Parliament for several years. Germany was one of the first countries to accept Willett's plan and added 80 minutes in four separate movements. Britain passed an act on May 17, 1916 that followed Germany's lead. Some countries later followed this plan and eventually science devised the current Daylight Saving Time method.

What are the four time zones from east to west?

There are a lot more than four time zones. The four main ones in the continental United States are Eastern, Central, Mountain and Pacific. They're complicated slightly by the fact that some locations do not observe daylight savings time, meaning that, for example, Arizona (one such location) spends part of the year at the same time as the Pacific time zone, and part of the year at the same time as the Mountain time zone.

Who created Daylight Saving Time What purpose did it serve?

It was thought up by Benjamin Franklin. It's main purpose is to adjust people to the lack of daylight in winter months, though that is not quite the case. Daylight Savings Time actually makes it appear as if the sun has risen up earlier in the morning (as the sun rises late in winter months). This limits the amount of sunlight in the afternoon, which I believe is the most important, considering scholars and such have a knack of wandering outside at these hours, and the lack of daylight increasingly limits their freedom. So, I guess the best answer to your question is a non-linear one; Daylight Savings Time just helps people get up early to get to work by extending the amount of daylight during the morning. Other than that, it's kind of pointless, as most people don't remember their mornings as well as they do their afternoons, and since the afternoon daylight hours are restricted by DST, it only creates more questions than it "answers."

What is the different between savings and wealth?

Savings and wealth are related but not identical concepts. Here are the main differences between the two: Definition: Savings is the amount of money that you have set aside for a specific purpose or that you have not yet spent. Wealth, on the other hand, is the total value of all the assets you own, including cash, investments, and property. Liquidity: Savings is typically held in liquid form, such as in a bank account or money market fund, while wealth can be held in a variety of forms, including stocks, bonds, real estate, and collectibles. Time horizon: Savings is usually a short-term goal, while wealth is often thought of as a long-term goal. Purpose: The main purpose of savings is to provide financial security and stability, while the main purpose of wealth is to provide financial independence and the ability to live comfortably without having to work. Composition: The amount of savings you have is typically more limited than the amount of wealth you have, since wealth includes not only cash and investments, but also the value of your property and other assets. How many hours difference is Los Angeles California to New Zealand?

The computation is complicated by Daylight Savings Time in either location, or both. The main time for New Zealand time (NZT, GMT+12) and California's Pacific Standard Time (PST, GMT-8) creates a nominal time difference of 20 hours later in New Zealand. However, there is currently no date on which both standard times are in effect at the same time. For about two weeks each March, and four to five weeks around October, both are on Daylight Savings Time and the time difference is that New Zealand is 20 hours later*.From early November until mid-March, New Zealand is observing Daylight Savings Time making NZDT the equivalent of GMT +13 (California is PST at GMT -8). The time difference is that New Zealand is 21 hours later. From early April to late September, California is observing Daylight Savings Time. This makes PDT the equivalent of GMT-7. (New Zealand is on standard time GMT+12). The time difference is that New Zealand is 19 hours later.*Because New Zealand is on the west side of the International Date Line, the new day always arrives in New Zealand first. If you fly west from California, the time becomes earlier until you cross the Date Line and "gain a day".
