We burn fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) mostly for generating electricity. Other reasons are transport and industry.

A:We burn fossil fuels today because it is One of the few working methods we have of obtaining the energy we need to live. We depend on over half of the fossil fuel used to heat and power our buildings. Without the use of fossil fuels, we would be without transportation, most of our medicines, computers, clothes or food. Fossil fuels are the most basic building block of modern society and the reason for our existing lifespan and comforts we enjoy.

The burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity, releases carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas causing global warming.

Burning fossil fuels is the main source of air?

Burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity is the main source of air pollution, in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2) (a greenhouse gas classified as a pollutant when it is added to the atmosphere).

What primarily causes acid rain?

Pollutants caused from burning fossil fuels are a primary factor. The two main gasses that create acid rain are Sulphur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide, both of which are byproducts of burning fossil fuels in different forms.

Why does burning wood and burning fossil fuels produce the same substance?

The main content is the same. Of the wood is carbon and hydrogen, and that of fossil fuels is hydrogen and carbon. So when wood and fossil fuels are burnt the Carbon combines with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, and the hydrogen combines with oxygen to produce water (H2O). C+O2--> CO2+CO

What are the main usues of fossil fuels?
