I deleted the previous answer which said "the Ohio River." While the Ohio River serves as a natural border between southern Ohio and northern West Virginia and Kentucky, it does not run through Ohio and is nowhere near Columbus (located in the middle of the state).
The Olentangy and Scioto Rivers run through Columbus, Ohio. The Olentangy runs north to south, through the Ohio State University Campus. Just west of the Olentangy, the Scioto runs nortwest to south through downtown Columbus.
