What Ethernet in IEEE designates thinnet as?

In the IEEE standards, Thinnet is designated as 10BASE2. This specification refers to a form of Ethernet that uses coaxial cable with a maximum segment length of 200 meters and supports data rates of 10 Mbps. Thinnet is known for its thinner, more flexible cable compared to the original thick coaxial Ethernet (10BASE5), which allows for easier installation in various environments.

What is the maximum distance of 100BaseT?

The maximum distance of 100BaseT, also known as Fast Ethernet, is 100 meters using twisted-pair cable. Beyond this distance, signal degradation can occur, affecting network performance.

When using UTP cable in a Token Ring network a computer can only be 45 meters from the MSAU. What is the distance if you use STP cable?

In a Token Ring network, when using Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable, the maximum distance a computer can be from the Multi-Station Access Unit (MSAU) is 100 meters. This is an improvement over Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable, which is limited to 45 meters. The increased distance capability of STP is due to its shielding, which reduces electromagnetic interference.
