About ten flying hours.
I would recommend helicopter flying as a hobby to someone who is interested enough to spend the time necessary to learn how to do it correctly. It's best to have someone with experience teach you how to fly. It's also a good idea to practice on a simulated flying program. It is also not a cheap hobby. All the parts and pieces can be very pricey to purchase and replace if you crash.
It is said that the beginning of inventing flying objects started on the 19th century. The goal to make a flying machine started with Otto Lilienthal who makes gliders and the one who created the book about the study of flight which is also know as AERODYNAMICS. Leonardo Da Vinci draw a sketch of a helicopter at his time and the first successful flying helicopter was designed by the Russian Igor Sikorsky in the late 1939.

It depends on the Helicopter. Small ones like the homebuilt mosquito can only lift a few hundred pounds, but large commercial ships like the Russian Mi26 can lift 80,000 pounds (wich is the same as a fully loaded semi-truck)
