yes just x32 OS cannot
Just to be safe I would not do it only because a 32bit and a 64bit run on entirely different functions.
8 gb
The official minimum for a 64-bit installation is 2 GB of RAM. There is no "recommended" amount, as it depends on what you are trying to do. The maximum supported depends on what edition you are using: Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate support 192 GB of RAM. Windows 7 Home Premium supports 16 GB of RAM. Windows 7 Home Basic supports 8 GB of RAM.
8 gigabytes
No, your laptop does not need 4GB of RAM to run Windows 8. The basic specifications for Windows 8 is 2GB for 64-bit or 1 GB for 32-bit. 4GB would help with the processor but would not be necessary.
8 GB is the maximum RAM that you can put in a dell latitude d 830.
You can run Windows 7 with 1-2 GB of RAM depending on what you are doing. (More stuff you need more RAM) I Would go with at least 4 if not 8 GB of RAM to run Windows 7.
It is a good start. I would recommend at least 8. You would want to keep your RAM sockets full if you can, if your board has quad channel memory support. That can be the difference between a WEI of 7.8 and 7.9 in Windows 7. Also, to help in games, I'd disable as many nonessential Windows services as I could. That can free up memory and CPU cycles. Something else to consider if you are running demanding games is your video card and the amount of RAM it has, That way, the card can store more of the textures and not need to share system RAM.
Theoretically, Windows 98 should be able to address up to about 4 GB of RAM. However, various bugs and poor implementation limit the amount that can be practically used to somewhere between 1 and 1.5 GB. 512 MB is the maximum that can be used reliably.
windows 8 runs great on 3gb , so 2gb would be the minimum.
The requirements using for Windows 8 download are the following: Processor, RAM, Hard disk space, and a Graphics Card. These four components are very important and will have your Windows 8 run smoothly.
