In Hebrew, the language primarily used for sacred texts prior to its revival as a spoken language, each letter has a numerical value. Some believed that Hebrew was the language of the angels, while the ancient rabbis maintained that Hebrew was the language originally spoken by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. There's a system called gematria which looks for patterns/similarities in this. So, for example, the word for "life" in Hebrew is composed of two letters whose numerical value is 18. 126 is 7 times "life" - one for each day of the week. Hence, things like charitable donations, the purchase price of a house, gifts, etc, etc are given in multiples of 18 for good luck, often incorporating 126 in either the total amount, or in part, such as in the offer for the purchase price of a house.

In Hebrew, each letter also has a numerical value, using a system called Gematria. So, for example, the word for "life" in Hebrew (חי) is composed of two letters

ח - Het=8 and

י - Yud=10 for a total numerical value of 18. Things like charitable donations are given in multiples of 18 for good luck. 126 is 7 times "life" - one for each day of the week.

Based on the gematria of Jews, "life" has a numerical value in Hebrew then if you multiply by seven for the total number of days in a week, the product is 126. The number could be interpreted as the Holy Jewish meaning of God's name and the lucky number of Jews.
