Theertham means Holy water(s) and yaathra means journey.

Theerthayaathra is to a Hindu is the journey to Holy places (such as Kaasi) to take a deep dip in the Holy waters (such as river Ganga - The Ganges) which he believes will wash of all the accumulated mundane impurities, will help him achieve "Moksham" - Emancipation of the essential or spiritual being from material being and its repetitive cycle of births, deaths and rebirths.
