a.m. is Ante-Meridian - Latin phrase for Before the meridian or middle of the day i.e. before noon whereas p.m. is Post-Meridian which stands for after the meridian or the middle of the day i.e. after noon. The Hindi equivalent for a.m. is 'Poorvahn' (पूर्वाह्न) and for p.m. it is 'Aprahn' (अपराह्न).
