The book Electronic Devices and Circuit Theory by Robert Boylestad and Louis Nashelsky, Fifth Edition, page 119, says "On specifications sheets dc Beta is usually included as hFE with the h derived from an ac hybrid equivalent circuit.... The subscripts FE are derived from forward-current amplification and common-emitter configurations, respectively." It is equal to the ratio of the change in collector current (delta IC) to the change in base current (delta IB) when VCE is held constant. Therefore, hFE in multitesters would mean the value of this ratio in a specific transistor as shown by the multitester when measurement is being done.
On the same page are the following: "On specification sheets ac Beta is normally referred to as hfe. Note that the only difference between the notation used for the dc beta, specifically, dc Beta = hFE, is the type of lettering for each subscript quantity. The lowercase letter h continues to refer to the hybrid equivalent circuit... and the fe to the forward current gain in the common-emitter configuration."

There are several advantages of digital over analogue multi-tester. The digital multi tester has improved accuracy and is very simple to use unlike the analogue type. .
analog is a D'arsonal movement (an indicator needle over a scaled background) and a digital meter is a LCD display that has no movement
A: HFE is meaning less uunless current is specified. For a switch force gain of 10 for an amplifier at low level maybe 100 for the same transistor.
through the used of multi-tester
HFE is the gain of the transistor
A multi-tester can test:Voltage, Amperage, Resistance, Continuitysome can test temperature, phase rotation, frequency. It all depends on how much you spend, what kind of features they have.
how to calculate the value of hfc for a given hfe
I don't know about hfc, but hFE is the amplification factor by which the transistor amplifies the base current. Therefore, if hFE is 100, the base current is amplified by a factor of 100.

the transistor gain is expressed in abrivation hfe. my question is that which are the words the hfe stand for
