42. Well, no, not really. The meaning of life depends on your point of view. Generally, it is an action that is important to you, such as "being kind," or "giving," etc. However, the meaning of life for some can be to do terrible things, simply because that is what they think is most important in their life. This is not the right answer. There is no right answer. This is simply my opinion.

How would you respond to the nihilist view that life has no meaning?

response: "you miss the point that meaning is irrelevant to life. only words and phrases, and other symbols, can have meaning by definition. this says nothing about the nature of life, but about the nature of meaning. meaning is what something refers to. life does not refer to something else. "life," the word, does. to know its meaning, look in a dictionary for starters. "so if you have concluded that human life, or all life, has no purpose, no direction, no point, from your notion that it could have but also fails to have meaning, your thinking is invalid. "and if your invalid conclusion ties in with your notion that the essence of reality is nothingness, or that ultimately there is nothing, and that there is no such thing as right and wrong, then there is no point in discussing the purpose, direction or point of life with you."
