A tertiary job is when you provide a service e.g. teaching, fireman, nurse, doctor, etc.
There is also another group called quaternary. This group is the minority that think up and produce extremely high-tech technology, like the people who invented the iPod and the PC etc. However, this is a very specialized group and are not usually mentioned.
