Essentially, it implies rectitude of conduct and governing of self, with God as his Center. The symbol being made up of a carpenter's square and compasses (not compass) remind a Mason to "square his actions" and "circumscribe his desires" to keep them in check. In the U.S. the letter "G" is in the center, referring to G-d who is at the center of all.

The Freemason's Emblem is called the Square and Compasses and consists of a builder's square with the right angle pointing down intersected by a compass with its two points pointing down and the letter "G" in the space thus demarcated. The meanings of these symbols are complex and a matter for lengthy study by Freemasons, but they can be summarized by saying that the square represents morality and the compasses represent restraint, and the letter G can stand for the word "God" or the word "Geometry".

Step back from this question and examine your assumptions. First, you assume that there is "a freemason sign". Second, you assume that it "stands for" something.

To be sure, there are a number of Masonic symbols, which generally have a complex and rich symbolism far beyond what can or should be discussed on the internet. The study of Masonic symbolism is a lifetime study.

If you are talking about the square and compasses, the universally acknowledged symbol of Masonry, well, it "stands for" Masonry. What did you think?
