Viscose is the name of a manufactured chemical made predominantly of wood cellulose, which has been added to a caustic soda, to break down the cellulose. (other stuff is done, but check out the wikipedia link for that information)

When this process is done, you will then have a Rayon yarn. Very nice, soft, and it glistens--however it can be a bit "slippery" and not stay in a knot, for example.

So, viscose generally equals Rayon.
