A spiral fracture is bone breakage caused by a twisting force. They are also known as torsion fractures. Treatment can be months in a cast and possible surgery. The classic example is when skiers lock their boots into the ski and then lose control, the leg may be violently twisted in one direction.
Osteoclasis is the surgical fracture of a bone to correct a deformity. Diaclasis is another term.
