Cardiac Fibrillation (fibrilla = little fibers [referring to muscle fibers]) can be either atrial or ventricular. In either case, it is extremely rapid, incomplete contractions resulting in irregular pressure and uncoordinated movement of the heart. Atril fibrillation can be a chronic condition, but unless stopped, the venticular form is fatal.

Tachycardia (tachy = rapid + card = heart + a = noun form) is a heart rate that exceeds normal range. Higher heart rate equals a less efficient pump and less blood flow to the rest of the body leading to increased work and oxygen demand by the heart tissue.
