It's called the thorax, and bears all three pairs of legs and two pairs of wings. Inside, it's pretty much only muscle, to power all that. Internal organs are in the abdomen, the hind part of the animal. ^^

The insect body has three main parts. The front part we call the head. The last part we call the abdomen, and in between, where the legs and wings are, we get the part we call the thorax.

What body parts make an insect an insect?

Antennae, compound eyes, external skeleton, three body parts and six legs are what makes an insect an insect.Specifically, an insect has one pair of antennae -- sometimes called feelers -- on the first of its three body parts, the head. Thousands of photoreceptor units make up an insect's eyes. Its skeleton supports its body from the outside, not the inside as is the case with humankind. It will have noticeable middle (thorax) and end (abdomen) body regions as well as three sets of jointed, segmented legs.

What is the middle part of an insect's body where the legs are attached?

The head is the first part, with antennae, eyes and mouthparts. The thorax is the middle, with the legs and wings if the insect has them, and containing the muscles to use them. The third part is called the abdomen, with no appendages. This part houses the internal organs.

Which region of the insect's body is specialized for movement?

The thorax is the region of an insect's body that is specialized for movement.Specifically, the term comes from the Greek word (thorax) for "breastplate, corslet, cuirass." It designates the middle region of an insect's body, after the head and before the abdomen. It is the location of the insect's legs (for crawling, jumping, "walking") and wings (for flying).

Which section of the insect's body is specialized for sensory function?

The head is the section of an insect's body that is specialized for sensory functions.Specifically, the section in question is top- or upper-most in an insect. It joins to the thorax (middle region), which segues into the abdomen (last region). It will be the location of the insect's antennae for sensing, eyes for seeing, and mouth parts for tasting.
