A Navy SEAL can become a sniper, then an officer if he has an education.
It depends on your career aspirations. For Officers, a minimum 4 year college degree is required. For Enlisted, a minimum High School Diploma or GED is required. However, in the current recruiting climate, they can pick and choose from a large group of candidates, and HSD's are preferred unless the recruit can show good reason for not completing HS by the normal means.

Education and Training
You need a minimum High School diploma or GED for Enlisted service, a 4 year college (accredited) degree for Officer programs. Regardless of your education, you still need to pass the Navy's entrance exams, which are pretty thorough across all subjects. Its score determines whether or not you get the job you want, or will be scrubbing decks.
During the Vietnam War, the minimum standard was 70.

There is no tuition cost to attend the US Naval Academy, or any of the other service academies. In exchange for the education, the graduates serve in the US Navy or US Marine Corps for a minimum of four years on active duty.
You have to be at least 16 years of age.
