I have come up with this as an equation for Baking Powder. The chemical formula is as follows:

NaHCO3 + NaAl(SO4)2 + CaHPO3 +

(Sodium Bicarbonate) + (Sodium Aluminum Sulphate) + (Acid Phosphate of Calcium) + C6H10O5 (Starch or Cornstarch)

Baking powder is actually a mixture. So it will have several formulas, each representing a different chemical substance. One main chemical ingredient is baking soda, which is actually sodium bi-carbonate (NaHCO3). Additional ingredients are cream of tartar and starch, which counteract the alkalinity of the baking soda.

Baking powder and baking soda are not the same thing. A lot of north American recipes call for both ingredients. Baking soda is bicarbonate of soda and baking powder is AA combination of corn starch, monocalcium phosphate and soidum bicarbonate. Why you would want to use both rather than just double the amount the baking soda, I have no idea, other than the fact that baking soda makes things taste sour, which you don't particularly want in baking///

NaHCO3

2nd opinion: Nope, that's baking soda. There is no chemical formula for baking powder since it is mixture of two different compounds, typically a carbonate and a weak acid.
