A drug monograph is a detailed explanation of a drug that is usually accompanied with the prescription medication. It contains information about the structure, function, uses, dosing, mechanism of action, side effects, adverse effects, etc. You can usually find them online at the drug company's respected website.

other than to properly label every Rx, if its new a rx, then u must be given a drug monograph(an informational sheet about the rx u just received includes but not limited to side effects, how to take it, etc) also the pharmacist must offer, or his staff, to counsel on every new medication. if its just a refil, then the drug monograph doesnt' have to be given, but u still have to be offered the counseling(usually in the form of do u have any questions on your medications; not exactly the right way to offer counseling thoug)
