Whale sharks may be the largest sharks but are completely harmless and feed on microscopic creatures called plankton. Great white sharks are dangerous but mainly feed on sea lions, seals and fish rather that people. Normally if they attack a person it is, in great white terms, a curious nip. Sadly their nip is a bit more painful than the average nip and can cost surfers and divers an arm or a leg and sometimes can even result in death.
