Acts of the Apostles contains a brief introduction discussing the resurrection appearances of Jesus and the Pentecost, in which the disciples are said to have received the Holy Spirit, but is principally about the stories of the apostles Peter and Paul after the death of Jesus.
Although much of the book discusses the conversion and mission of Paul, some scholars dispute the historicity of this account. Bishop Spong (Born of a Woman: A Bishop Rethinks the Birth of Jesus) says that the author of Acts could not have been Paul's travelling companion because of the large number of discrepancies between Acts and Paul's epistles, a view supported by others such as Raymond E. Brown (An Introduction to the New Testament). Acts says that Paul was educated in Jerusalem by Gamaliel I the Elder and, as a young man, witnessed the stoning of Stephen, but Raymond E. Brown (An Introduction to the New Testament) casts doubt on Paul's continuous presence in Jerusalem in the years 26-30/33, since his letters show no evidence that he had seen Jesus.
There are interesting contrasts in Acts, between Peter and Paul. Each is said to have performed or experienced several directly comparable miracles, but the miracles of Peter were always more impressive than those of Paul.
Another answer from our community:
The Book of Acts begins with Jesus going up to heaven. Then the Apostles get together and choose Matthias to take Judas' place. Peter goes and preaching the word to all the Jews then he continues on to preach to the Gentiles. Peter also runs in to Simon the Sorcerer who was baptized but then tried to buy the power of the Holy Spirit with money. The Lord guides Philip to an Ethiopian eunuch who was on his Chariot reading the words of Isaiah And Philip starts teaching the Ethiopian about Jesus using the prophesy in Isaiah Paul comes in later, on the way to Damascus to but more Christians in jail, Jesus stops him and says "Saul, Saul, way are you persecuting me?" After that Paul/Saul is blind and has to go to Damascus to be told what to do next. Eventually Saul becomes Paul and he starts of on his missionary journeys to tell everyone the good news. At the end of Acts Paul is a prisoner and he was shipwrecked on an island. He was bitten by a snake that was very poisonous and did not die from it. Eventually Paul gets to Rome where he appeals to Cesar and continues preaching the good news and writing letters under Roman guard.
I'm not sure which is more important but there are several key events; The Great Commision Ascension of Jesus to Heaven Pentecost and the Coming of the Holy Spirit Conversion of Saul
It was Paul that encourage the Apostles to moved on . This is recorded in the book of ACTS
The book known as Acts of the Apostles is important to know if you are a Christian and if you believe the book is a reliable history of the early church. It is also possible to be a Christian and accept a scholarly view that Acts is often not historically reliable, in which case knowing Acts of the Apostles would be of secondary importance.

AnswerNo. The Acts of the Apostles is essentially a record of the supposed acts of Peter and Paul, perhaps even a subtle comparison of the two apostles. Apart from Stephen, who is not mentioned anywhere outside Acts, there is no real mention of the other apostles.
Probably the sermon Peter gave at Pentecost. This is recorded in Acts 2:14-40. It records that about 3000 people were saved as a result. Stephen gave a long and strong message also at his trial and then was stoned to death. This is recorded in Acts 7.
