The most important part of a gaming PC is making sure you use well balanced parts. For example do NOT get 32GB of RAM with an Intel Core i7-3970X and top of the line motherboard and get the cheapest graphics card you can find. Do not spend too much on one part and as little as you can on another part. I recomend building your own gaming PC because you usually spend a ton less for a better one than buying one from Dell or another big company. If you have to buy a preassembled one I would look for an SSD and with 8GB or more of RAM and an Intel CPU. A dual core CPU is usually enough for browsing the web and light gaming. However I would get a quad core CPU if possible. Another thing to look out for is the graphics card RAM. A lot of companies try to trick you by saying "3GB of video memory" or something similar. The thing that they do not want you to know is that a good quality 256MB or .25GB graphics card can easily outperform a cheap 4GB graphics card. Another example is an 8 core AMD FX-8350 5GHZ CPU can easily be severely outperformed by an Intel Core i5-3570K with 4 cores and 3.4GHZ. Also do not think a $400 motherboard with the same CPU socket and chipset as a $100 motherboard is a ripoff. For the average person it is not worth paying $400 for a motherboard when there is a comparable motherboard for $100. There are some exceptions however. Such as someone who will be extremely overclocking the CPU. I am NOT saying that as an excuse to buy the cheapest motherboard you can find however. I am also not listing specific parts because in less than 6 months the parts I would use would most likely be different because of new technology constantly being released. I hope this helps.

Do you prefer PC gaming, laptop gaming, or console gaming?

It really depends on platform requirements, for sandbox games/multi-tasking games, I'd go for PC or Laptop, FPS titles and fast-paced games are better on console, especially when it is a high-graphics game. But, I am mostly going to stick on PC gaming due to most games being there
