First of all you should know the basics like a female horse is called a mare and a baby horse is called a foal however a baby male is called a colt, a male horse that CAN have babies is called a stallion and a male horse that CANNOT have babies is a gelding.

Then you have to know that horses are measured in height with hands.

And here are some of the breeds but if i told you them all i would be here for hours:mustang,quarter horse(QH),pinto,Arabian (Arab),halflinger pony,mini horse,appalossa(appy),gypsy vanner,clydsale,percheron,belgin,saddlebred,etc. i could go on for hours look up the breeds on wikipeidia and theres also icelandic ponies and lots more!!!!

There is also alot of colours like.... Black, White, Brown, Bay, Pinto ,Piebald ,Skewbald, Cream, Chestnut ,(Bright or Liver),Palamino, Roan ( Blue or Red), Sorrel, Grey ( Dapple,fleabitten,white),Dun.

And there is the tack which you put on the horse to ride which is the saddle which you sit on and the bridle which goes on the horses head and there is a peice called a bit which goes in the horses mouth to tell it where to go when you pull on the reins which is the part you hold onto. And the stirrups which you put your feet into.

You also have the 4 speeds you go at when you ride the horse (slowest-fastest)-walk-trot-canter-gallop.

And in horse shows you have show jumping and dressage, cross-country and steeplchase.

The person who rides a horse in races is called a jockey and the place that a horse sleeps is a stable and a horse normally sleeps standing up but may lie down.
