parody is protected free speech. the thing doing the parody usually should create a commentary on the original work through the parody, and the thing doing the parody is generally better off as being an established parody/comedy outlet as to make it clear that it isnt replicating the original work but rather it is creating a new work commentating on the old.
It's a parody of nothing. In the episode commentary, they talk about knowing those guys who sit on college campuses, repeat the same three chords and sing those kinds of stupid songs.
