Snakes are actually venomous and not poisonous big difference between the two. Venomous basically mean venom is injected like some snake and species of spider, poison can be absorbed thru the skin like the dart frogs of south America. They are hundreds of type, too name a few: green and black mamba's, almost all sea snakes, cobra (king, spiting, Egyptian, etc.), rattle snake, boomslang, gaboon viper, inland taipan (particularly venomous) and the list goes on

Going by the LD50 figure - Belcher's Sea snake has the most potent venom drop-for-drop. LD50 is the amount of venom (measured in milligrammes or microgrammes) needed to kill 50 mice.
