The best World of Warcraft class is the one you enjoy playing most. If you are a people person, play Warrior or Priest, if you are a loner, play Warlock or Hunter, if you like it mixed, Druid or Shaman for a mixed experience.

or you can just go with a pally or warlock (best level 80 classes by FAR, PVP and everything else)
well there isant a best class the classes are the same over all diffrent people are good at diffrent class i am good at rouge hunter and abit death knight and im realy bad at pally priest and warrior

There is no overall "best" class in World of Warcraft. Each class brings something unique to the battlefield. One class might be good at AoE grinding while another excells at single mob killing while yet another is better at healing.

Even in the three different main roles (tank, dps, healer) there is not really any one class that far exceeds other classes in the role (ie "the best").

What it comes down to is how well the individual player knows its class and can perform its functions. A very well geared player may not always know how to play his/her class very well because they were dragged through content (ie instances or raids) by other people. At the same time you might see some undergeared people do really well because they know what they are doing (ie know their class spells and what the proper time to use them is).

However each class has advantages over other classes, however one must know how to play that class, and the talent tree they are.

For battlegrounds definently hunters or rogues, the strategy for hunter is to have a pet that could stun or keep your opponent still, disarm, or increase damage done and use hunter's mark at all times, and the strategy for rogue is to have a cloth wearer or clothie as "bait" while stealthing and then sap and use ambush. But for 2v2s you do not want to use a rogue, but hunter still is a viable option, but if anything arena teams need people with chemistry, like a tank and a healer, dps and dps, and maybe healer and dps if you want to get a fast kill. Here is a guide to all the specs you should have for each class:

Warrior: Arms

Warlock: Affliction

Rogue: Sublety

Hunter: Marksmanship/ Beast Mastery

Paladin: Retribution

Death Knight: Blood

Druid: any spec

Shaman: Elemental

Priest: Discipline

if you are a druid and use your cat form, make sure to stealth and do it like a rogue without the rogue attacks; wait for an attacker and get them from behind.

There is not really any "best" overall class in WoW. Each class brings different things to the table as far as fighting and healing abilities are concerned.

Also, I guess this question would always be a personal opinion type of answer

It depends really on what type of aspect of characters do you like?

The best class for world of warcraft would be the gnome mage, the dwarf hunter, night elf shaman, human paladin, undead rogue, orc warrior, tauren shaman, troll warlock, draenei warrior or hunter, and last but not least the blood elf warrior or mage! I have 3 lvl 40 mage gnomes and 2 dwarf hunters they are both very good combinations!

There really is no good answer for this. Blizzard spent years perfecting this idea, so it really depends on what you want.

Hunter- Pure DPS. Use bows, and they have a pet, and I would say the best choice for a new player. VERY easy to level. Boring, though in my opinion (I have a 72 hunter)

Mage- Also, Pure DPS. They use spells though, usually dishing out tons of damage in one spell. They run out of mana pretty fast and take a bunch of damage, though. (I have a 65 mage)

Warlock- Mage, except they have a pet. Also, they use shadow and fire spells where mages use frost, fire, and arcane. Also, really easy to level. Warlocks rely on fear a lot. (I have a 34 warlock)

Rogue- ALSO Pure DPS. They stealth though, and focus on attacking fast and stunning their enemys, very prone to damage though. You have to be pretty skilled to play them, I would say. (Rogues, I only got to 22 :( )

Warrior- Warriors can either be damage or tanks, which helps when you want to get in dungeons fast. Warriors are hard to play, and they also have many macros that you have to learn at the right time. I'm waiting to make a worgen warrior.

Paladin- A paladin is much like a warrior, except that they use Holy damage and they can also heal. So they can be healers, tanks, or dps. They are also pretty boring I would say. (have a 34 paladin, and a 19 twink paladin)

Druid- Druids can be any role in the game. Caster dps, melee dps, tank, or healer thanks to them shapeshifting. I have an 80 druid and he is very fun, and I don't get bored. Tanking and healing on them is pretty straightforward, but DPS can be confusing and hard.

Shaman- I also have an 80 shaman, and they can be caster dps, melee dps, or a healer. I find caster dps to be the funnest out of the three, but shamans are pretty fun overall. They have totems!

Priest- Priests can either heal, or dps. They use shadow to dps and holy to heal. But they are the only class to have 2 different healing specalizations to use. Pretty tough to level with until 40. (I have a 39 priest)

Death Knight- Death knights are pretty boring in my opinion, and you can't even play them until level 55. Like a warrior. But don't even think about them right now.

and players. It all depends on what style of play you are better at.

Although it is mana consuming, the Arcane Mage, and maybe fire and frost mages, can pass the dps of almost any class, some being a higher level then them, especially in 1 on 1 combat. At level 64 they gain, 'Arcane Blast,' which on first strike costs less mana and causes almost double damage of fireball, while being a faster cast (fireball hits 360-520, arcane blast hits 888-986). Casting arcane blast and hitting several times will cause the mana to greatly increase, costing at level 64, 110/116 mana, 321/331 mana, 586/603 mana, 863/886 mana. However, you increase the damage of the next arcane spell by 15/30/45/60%. With arcane talents and spell power added, you will hit around 1.1-1.3K with arcane blast, and critically hit 2.2-3.1K. Then after 4 times, it is nearly 100% gaurentied you will have Missile Barrage, which causes your next arcane missiles to be mana free, and instead of firing missiles each second, you fire them each half second, for 2.5 seconds. Faster through haste rating. Missiles will instead hit 440-520, critical 946-1051, and normally would hit 216-240, critical 415-480. Also, talents increase critical strike chance with spells, and with a very high spirit, critical strike rating, molten armor active, and after gaining arcane potency (use presence of mind right before missiles) you can possibly gain up to 75% critical strike chance.

Please note: All of what has been posted has been tested through 2 different arcane talent sets that include 2/3 frostbite and 2/3 (unknown frost talent name). Includes Glyph of Arcane Missiles. Mana will be drained quickly even from 6K mana with a high mana regain.

Note: This does not make the mage the best class, they still die very fast if not used correctly or cautiously.

Advise: Using the arcane blast-arcane missiles combo constantly is not the best idea. Note you can use arcane explosion and arcane barrage with this too, which both will cause very high damage (arcane explosion, not tested, arcane barrage, 900-1.1K) Also, a good combo while at 1K or less mana is to have mage armor active, and have at least 150 mana regain. Cast frostbolt, then arcane barrage. Frostbolt, arcane barrage, repeat. Then you have a chance to gain missile barrage, which will cause a good amount of damage. Frostbolt damage: 600-720, critical 980-1040. Arcane Barrage: 711-830, critical 950-1.2K. Missiles cause 960-1.2K damage over 2.5 seconds, not including critical strikes.
