I believe this would be either white or black, and here are some thoughts about that:

White is primarily used in background color. Gone are the days of web design when it was "cool" and "to expand on this and provide color option to make the page more attractive to the reader. Your options boil down to this: if you use a light background, use a dark text but if you use a dark background, use light text. And avoid shifty (and wild) color changes on the background behind the text.
