When looking to purchase a 14 gauge speaker wire it may be possible to buy the required length and brand of wire from a local Hi-Fi shop. There are online websites that offer 14 gauge speaker wire and these are sites such as Amazon and Walmart as well as many other sites that offer speaker wire.
The positive speaker wire is a solid color, your negative wire should have a stripe on it.

No! Most lamp cords are made with 18 guage wire, some speaker wire is made with 18 guage wire too but the insualtion of the wire is very different. Both wires have insulation for their intended uses. Supplying a lamp with line voltage and supplying a speaker with low voltage are very different. The speaker wire is not meant to carry line voltage and may overheat and or melt.

most speaker wires work conventionally so yes it would work but if you go to your local speaker shop you can pick up some good quality speaker wire try it out see what you think
Most will say that the white striped wire is the ground. The bottom line is that it doesn't really make a difference as long as your amp ground goes to your speaker ground. This is very important!
