Unless they are part of a Proof or Uncirculated mint set or are individual Proof or Uncirculated coins and in absolute mint condition, they have little or no value.
The Eire (Irish) 20 Pence coin minted from 1986 to 2000, is made from a nickel/bronze alloy and are not plated. Any discolouration (browning or yellowing) will most likely be due to light tarnishing of the coin.

Not much. Because Ireland has switched to using the Euro as its primary form of currency, there is no real "exchange rate" except perhaps converting the Irish 50 pence to Euros to US dollars which wouldn't be much. The coin itself is not rare, nor is struck using any type of precious metals. So really, the coin might be worth a few cents at most.
An old Sixpence is an anitque coin if the mean the most valuble old coin today.
It could be any 50 cent or 50 Pence coin issued since 1953 by any of the 50 plus Commonwealth countries. If the coin has no country name on it, it is most likely a British 50 Pence coin issued between 1969 and now.
Yes. The British 20 Pence coin was first issued in 1982 and have been minted in most years since, in annual quantities ranging from 31 million to 740 million.

Eire is the Irish term for Ireland. The harp is the historical symbol of Ireland and has been used on Irish (Hibernia, Eireann, Eire) coins for hundreds of years. 1d indicates One Penny (or Pingin in Irish), the "d" dating back to Roman times being derived from the Roman coin "Dinari". This was the symbol used by Britain and most British Empire/Commonwealth countries to indicate a "penny" value. The reverse of the Penny shows a chicken with chicks. The reverse of all pre-Euro Irish coins feature fauna from the Irish countryside. The Irish Pounds, Shillings and Pence currency which was based on the long established British currency, was discontinued and the currency progressively withdrawn in favour of a decimal currency based on 100 Pence to the Pound in 1971.
The three coins that make up 24p, or pence, are a 20 pence coin and two 2 pence coins. This is a problem that is difficult for most americans since coins do not come in those types of denominations.
What denomination is the coin? "New Pence" were introduced in 1968 when Britain eliminated its old coinage system and adopted a 100-based system like most other countries. New Pence (since 1982, called just "pence") are issued in denominations of 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 (100p) and £2. The pound is currently worth about $2 U.S. so you can effectively figure your coin's value by taking its denomination in pence and multiplying by 2 to get cents.
