well at the moment the most wide spread water pollution problem is the oil spill which happened a few weeks ago they are still tyring to stop it and it is very close to hitting the beaches of America. this will wildly destroy many living organisms in the sea and destroy many ecosystems this is a big hazard for America and it needs to be dealt with, but they can't actually burn the crude oil that easily. crude oil is a really really thick liquid and is hard to burn especially because its in water. hope i have answered your question :)
